In case you haven't heard, Cartoon Network has been in the works of a remake of the 80's cartoon Thundercats. Trailer if you haven't seen it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opB2f1BUvPk

Well, last night I saw an advertisment that gave the date for the world premiere. It is set to air Next Friday (July 29) at 8 Pm.

I actually did get to see the new series of Thundercats that I had a very very very strong interest in because I was born in 1980 and the Thundercats were my childhood. As a matter of fact I remember running around the house with my toy sword of Omens as it lit up, playing with my Lion-O and Panthro toys, and especially my favorite the Thundertank!!!!!!! I loved that thing. I will try to be back to tell you what I thought of it tomorrow because my review will probably be very long because lets face it the Thundercats are legendary period. I am just very tired right now.

I will tell you that the person that did the voice of Lion-O in the original did the voice of Lion-O's father in this episode, which resulted in me giggling like a school girl and that one moment where he raised the sword of Omens above his head and said the famous "ThunderCats Ho" line I nearly had an accident on the floor because I was screaming so loud and bouncing up and down.

No it was not "destroyed". In fact, just the opposite it was very well thought out. The writers focused alot on the plot and character development. There's back-story, introductions, a history. It's only been the 1 hour showing, but so far I'm impressed.

I also grew up with the original so I will say there are some changes.
Big ones are; Thundara is now a kingdom, not the planet.
Panthro is now a General of the army
Tigra is an adopted brother to Lion-O, key word adopted
Wily Kit and Kat are orphen's living on the street, tricking rich people out of money to survive. (Again so far)

But these are minor cause they are designed for this new version, and it works. I look forward to more and suggest everyone check it out.

PS Mumm-Ra is Creeeeeeepy. Even more then before.

I can't compare it to the original, having never seen the original, but it was nicely animated and quite badass. Plus, Kit and Kat/WilyKit and WilyKat/WhateverKit and WhateverKat were indeed very cute.

... I'm suprised nobody's mentioned Cheetara on the 'What Western Animation Girl Do You Want To Baby You" topic.
