Her sheets had been washed, but her room was conspicuously covered in air freshner to try to cover the smell of the lingering pee, and this, while it wasn't really weird for a room to have a little bit of a perfumy smell to it when it was a girl's room, seemed overdone as though something was being hidden.
Not able to understand why or what was being hidden, Ralph just went to check the parents' room and his guest room out. Then he laid on his bed for him, after he had removed his shoes. It wasn't like he'd get to watch TV anyway.

Around six, Sarah got up and stuck the thawed leftovers in the oven before returning to the living room and switching to an old horror movie. Haloween was in a week, after all, might as well get in the mood now.

Hearing that the game sounds had gone off, Ralph put down his book he was reading, and went to the livingroom to watch the movie she had put on.
"May I join you?" he asked politely wanting her to see that he respected that this was HER house. "I have no reason to really tell you to do anything unless I see you do something that's not quite right."
He sat the floor not bothering her from her comfortable position on the couch.

"Sure, whatever," Sarah said. "Actually, could you go make popcorn first? I'm a little hungry and dinner takes a while to cook," she said. If he had to be there, might as well make him useful.

Ralph thought about that a moment. He would have told her he wasn't her servant, but decided it wuldn't hurt him, and maybe she'd appreciate it if he helped her out on this one. He bit his lip in an attempt to keep quiet about how he was starting to feel about her attitude towards him. But then, she was fifteen, right?
He went and got the popcorn down and started to pop it.

Sarah said thanks when he came back, snacking on the popcorn loudly as she watched the movie. She had seen it a dozen times so none of it scared her, but she smirked whenever Ralph jumped. It was funny to see her 'babysitter' being scared at something she found so trivial.

Ralph looked over at her wondering why she found people getting killed so trivial.
"So, you don't think life is very important?" he asked her. "You think it's funny when people die?"

"I think it's funny when you get scared," Sarah replied. "It's not real, doofus. There's no crazy ax man that's going to try and kill you or anyone else in an insane torture room. What's the big deal? Besides, the effects are so over the top its almost comical."

He laughed.
"I guess you're right."
Then he walked out of the living room thinking she was asking for it. He got her some coke to drink while she watched her movie, and he checked on the meat loaf.
What she really needed was a reality check. He was put in charge of her, and she was actually being quite a brat since he got there. But he didn't really know what he could do about it. It was HER house, and technically, she hadn't done anything wrong. He fumed under his collar trying to think about anything at all he could do to cure her attitude towards him. She didn't respect hiim as an adult at all.

"Can you grab me a soda while you are in there?" Sarah called, since he was by the fridge anyways. "Thanks." And with that she returned to watching the movie, snacking on the popcorn and generally having a grand time, as far as it went. The new babysitter wasn't all too terrible, and she got to play video games all afternoon.
