Of course, Joshua knew a simple Water Gun underground wouldn't be enough, Kyle and Furret were tough opponents after all! But so was he! "Totodile, bend forward and use Rage!" the young kid shouted and his Pokemon followed such a strange order. When Furret was about to strike with Brick Break from behind, by lowering his body as ordered, Totodile barely missed it... only to immediately strike his opponent when the spikes on his back grew due to Rage and hit Furret! Using that moment, Totodile started biting Furret many times with his fangs!

TJ had already realized Gary's Umbreon was definitely stronger then Piplup, but he wasn't expecting such speed! "Fletchinder, use Double Team too and then Flame Charge!" he ordered as he needed to make his Pokemon faster then Umbreon as quickly as possible. Unfortunately for him, the Dark Pokemon had created more copies of himself and, after hitting all Fletchinder's afterimages, actually managed to hit the true one with Shadow Ball.

Strangely enough, the one who didn't realize her opponent's strategy had been Joy, although she was definitely the least concerned sibling when it came to battles. Nevertheless, when Pikachu charged Electroweb, she recklessly said: "Do we have to repeat ourselves? Porygon2, fire back with Charge Beam!" and, once again, both attacks nullified each other... only for Ash to take advantage of the black smoke this time!

Once the young scientist girl saw Pikachu ready to strike, all she could do was shouting: "Use Defense Curl!" before the impact. Porygon2 had indeed managed to raise his Defense but Pikachu's quick and powerful attack definitely caused it some major damage!

On the other half of the battlefield, Gary smirked at how Vince was handling Katie's Pokemon and said: "Eh eh, a copy will never top the original!", as Ditto's Psychic didn't affect Machop as much Umbreon did during their fight in the morning. Well, thinking about it... "Umbreon, Take Down on Ditto!" the Kanto trainer said and his Pokemon promptly started charging the powerful attack.
The last time a Pokemon used Take Down while an 'Umbreon' was using Psychic against Machop, it didn't end well for him... but if Vince could catch what Gary was going for, at least his embarrassing defeat would've been vindicated!

Kyle watched as Furret was being constantly bitten by Totodile's fangs but with deft movement was able to get himself away from the biting for a while, a little worse for wear but Furret was quite durable...After some thinking, Kyle called out, "TM time Furret, use Shock Wave!" with Furret hopping backwards while charging up electricity to fire off a move he learned from a TM, firing off a Shock Wave that was guaranteed to hit on Totodile...

Ash smirked as he saw that there was major damage done to the Porygon2 and called out to Pikachu, "Quick Attack and Iron Tail, keep Porygon2 busy!" seeing that Porygon2 was currently on the backfoot from the previous attacks and Ash wanted to keep this going...

Vince however caught exactly what Gary had in mind and called out to Machop, "Reposition the Submission Machop!" as Machop soon moved the submission so that Ditto!Umbreon would be in direct line of Umbreon's Take Down...

However, Katie saw this coming when the reposition happened and called out, "Use Psychic on Machop again!" knowing that if Take Down connected that would surely be a knockout combined with the Submission...So Ditto!Umbreon's eyes began to glow as he began to lift Machop who was holding onto it into the air, trying to get out of range of Umbreon's Take Down...

Joshua's Totodile was indeed hit by Shock Wave as, even in his best shape, the Water Pokemon couldn't rival Furret's speed especially for long-ranged attacks like that. The Electrical attack ended up shocking him much more then what Joshua had expected but, at the same time, Totodile's spikes grew even bigger than usual due to Rage!

TJ, after his Fletchinder was hit by Umbreon's Shadow Ball, knew he had to carefully plan his next move as it was unlikely she could bear the battle much longer. When he noticed Joy's Porygon2 struggling against Pikachu, however, he didn't hesitate and said: "Fletchinder, back up Porygon2 with Razor Wind on Pikachu!", planning to strike the Electrical Pokemon from above while he couldn't protect himself.

That proved to be his mistake as, when Fletchinder turned around and stopped for a moment to charge her attack, Joshua didn't miss the chance and suddenly yelled: "Now, Water Gun on Fletchinder!". Yes, his main concern was Furret but, if he could back up his little bro in the time of need, he simply had to do it! And when Tototile shot his water stream, empowered by Rage, Fletchinder couldnt' do anything to protect herself. TJ's Pokemon was completely engulfed by the Water and, being a supereffective move, finally knocked her out.

And with that, TJ was the first trainer to be defeated. Quite ironic, as he was the oldest of them all and the one to even come up with that idea. "WHAT?! Damn it!" he shouted, falling on his knees while rubbing his head with his hands.

Without Fletchinder's assistance, Porygon2 was left to deal with Pikachu alone. Joy was perfectly aware that her Pokemon wouldn't have survived another Iron Tail so, much like her sister, she called him back to its Pokeball: "Let's regroup now, Porygon2! Joltik, finish what we started!", releasing once again the Electric spider Pokemon. As Iron Tail missed its target, Joy immediately ordered: "Joltik, use String Shot! We need to slow Pikachu down!".

Despite realizing what Katie was going for, Gary simply smirked and said: "Don't worry, Umbreon! Faster!". His Pokemon, fully engulfed by the powerful attack now, rushed forward and completely ran over Machop, instead of Ditto!Umbreon... only to turn out it was just an afterimage from his previous Double Team! The real Umbreon showed up right behind Katie's Ditto who received a full-powered Take Down on his back!

"You wouldn't think I could hit my partner's Pokemon, even if it's this little brat's one..." Gary smirked, fully satisfied with his tactics, only to quickly panic once he realized what his pride had caused him to say. Looking at Vince with sweatdrops running on his face, he added: "I-I mean, especially if it's big bro's Pokemon!".

Kyle saw Totodile's spikes get bigger and bigger thanks to Rage and said to Furret, "Keep firing off Shock Wave and maintain distance!" knowing that Totodile didn't have that much range on Water Gun and to keep away from Totodile...If Totodile got close...That would be bad for them...

However Kyle was shocked as instead they aimed towards Fletchinder watching as TJ was the first one knocked out as Totodile nailed Fletchinder...Deciding to double back on this, "Shock Wave to focus down the Totodile!"

Ash watched as Joshua took down Fletchinder with his Water Gun and saw Kyle trying to get Totodile with more Shock Waves said to Pikachu, "Agility and Quick Attack, we need to intercept that Shock Wave!" making Pikachu go faster and dodge the String Shot coming in from Joltik before getting close enough, that the Shock Wave instead was being absorbed by Pikachu instead...

"Lightning Rod Pikachu" Ash said with a smile as he soon called out, "Thunder on Furret!" who quickly dug underground as a way of trying to protect itself from the Thunder...

Katie grimaced as her Ditto soon reverted back to base form and fainted, as Katie soon returned her pokemon...Vince was focused on Gary though as he heard exactly what Gary had said and seemed to be calmed down when Gary corrected himself...Clearly if Gary was bad enough in the future to need another punishment, he'd have to be firmer than the first time...

Katie soon sent Roselia back out, still looking worse for wear but with enough energy still to fight and to heal up a little..."Roselia, use Mega Drain!" as Roselia soon fired off Mega Drain on Machop who tried to dodge but got nailed in the end as Roselia healed up quite a bit from that...before spotting Umbreon and trying to Vine Whip it...

Joshua knew Totodile couldn't keep up with Furret's speed and, despite taking down Fletchinder, he knew also that move would've left his Pokemon more or less defenseless.

Luckily for him, Ash noticed that and came to help him! A bright smile showed up on Joshua's face as the young kid said: "Awesome, little bro!" when Pikachu was able to nullify Furret's Shock Wave and even absorb it. The little Electrical Pokemon was clearly as quick as Furret, if not even some more, and Joshua wanted to fully take advantage of it.

That's why, when Furret hid underground once more, the blond youngster wanted to make sure he couldn't escape anymore. Noticing a nearby hole, Joshua shouted: "Totodile, Water Gun underground!", and his Pokemon immediately obeyed. Totodile's move was short-ranged, yes, but very impactful and that's why a strong water jet raised from the cracks in the ground: on top of that there was Furret, his fur completely wet, and with, just above him, Pikachu ready to fire his Thunder.

Focusing once again on the battle, Gary noticed Roselia was aiming for his Umbreon with Vine Whip. Smirking, the Kanto trainer said: "Umbreon, dodge it and then finish it with Shadow Ball!". Despite having recovered some health from Machop, Gary thought Roselia was still an easy target and one move would've been enough to knock the Grass Pokemon down.

Unfortunately for him, however, Joltik had reached Umbreon by taking advantage of his small height and, when the Dark Pokemon was about to fire his Shadow Ball, Joy said: "Use Thunder Wave, Joltik!". The sudden shock not only paralyzed Umbreon, slowing his movements down, but also caused him to misfire his attack which didn't hit Roselia.

"The situation is terrible, Katie! We need to do something!" Joy shouted. She didn't have TJ's aerial protection anymore, Kyle was busy fighting Totodile and Pikachu, Katie was struggling with an almost fainted Pokemon against two much healthier: for a scientist like her, the odds were clearly against them!

Kyle watched as Furret was forced from the tunnels by the Water Gun and as Ash called out, "Thunder Pikachu!" watching as a thunderbolt struck the soaking wet Furret, almost knocking him out...Any hit from here on out would knock out Furret and that made Kyle a little more serious than normal as he said, "Looks like it's time for an all or nothing play" as Furret stood up and began to charge up energy for an attack...

Ash had sinking feeling in his gut the moment he felt Furret began to charge the attack before realizing just where he felt this kinds of attacks before...Quickly calling out to Pikachu, "Agility, get you and Totodile in the tunnels!" as Pikachu pushed Totodile into the water-filled tunnels...

Katie on the other hand spotted exactly what Kyle was doing and knew they had to get this right to get any chance of winning this...Calling out to Roselia, "Power Whip them into a line facing Furret!" as Roselia sent out its vines to try to trap the two as Vince saw this as well and said, "Vital Throw on Roselia, we need to get Furret to miss!" as Machop dodged the whips, and grabbed Roselia before trying to throw Roselia into Furret's direction as Kyle called out, "HYPER BEAM!" as Furret let the beam loose...

"Ah ah ah! A perfect hit, little bro!" Joshua remarked, grinning widely when Ash's Pikachu struck Furret with his powerful Thunder. However, as much as he was sure Furret would've now been easy to deal with when the young kid noticed the ferret Pokemon charging up for a new attack his cocky smile immediately turned into panic.

Luckily for him, Ash acted before he could say anything and promptly tried to get Pikachu and Totodile away from Furret. Joshua was surprised by how quickly his little bro was acting now but before he could say anything, he spotted Roselia's Vine Whip coming their way and, despite Vince's help, a tendril still got away. Joshua had to do something: he was the big bro, it was his duty to protect his little one! Especially with Vince by his side, he couldn't look bad! "Totodile, toss Pikachu into the dig!" Joshua quickly ordered and his Pokemon, turning around, sent the Electrical one splashing into a nearby hole.

Joy, of course, wasn't going to stay still and do nothing. Umbreon was already paralyzed so, if she could just weaken him a little more, Joltik could've easily escaped with his small size... "Use Bug Bite on Umbreon!" she said, as her Pokemon's little fangs shined before starting to bite Umbreon's neck.

"Damn it!" Gary cried as his Umbreon howled in pain after Joltik's attack. He could deal with the Electrical Pokemon quite fine but Furret's strange movements were bothering him too. What could he do, Umbreon was already weakened by the previous attack... And then, an idea formed in his mind, but it was suicidal! Gary whispered: "Umbreon, please forgive me..." and, after receiving a nod from his Pokemon, shouted: "Use Psychic on Joltik and keep him with you, then charge towards Furret!".

"What?!" Joy cried in utter disbelief as her Pokemon ended up being trapped in a psychic prison on Umbreon's neck. Wait, was Gary going to... "Oh no!" were the last words to be heard from her before Furret's Hyper Beam shoot.

Totodile, Roselia, Umbreon and Joltik were completely engulfed by the powerful energy beam. The following explosion was much bigger and louder than all the previous ones, so much it even shook the nearby trees and plants!

Once the smoke started to settle down, Totodile and Umbreon were lying on the ground, fainted. "Good job, Totodile... You saved your partner!" Joshua remarked with a proud smile before calling his Pokemon back to his Pokeball, as Gary did the same commenting: "You brought your opponent down with you, Umbreon, you did everything you could!".

In fact, near Umbreon, Joltik too was laying on the ground with swirly eyes. "Ahk! Our calculations were wrong!" Joy cried while returning Joltik in his Pokeball, stopping her feet on the ground in quite a childish way, although perfectly fitting with her young age.

With both Joshua and Gary without any Pokemon left, it was up to Ash and Vince to continue the fight!

Kyle bit his lips as he watched Furret fire off the Hyper Beam hoping that he could get everyone in that one hit, if this didn't work, he'd be a sitting duck and as the beam fired off he saw that he got Totodile and Umbreon as well but thanks to the works of Umbreon and Machop he also Roselia and Joltik in the blast...

Katie in particular saw that Roselia had been hit hard enough by the Hyper Beam that she had been knocked out as well, wincing a bit as this probably meant they were done...

Kyle smiled as he saw that got those knockouts as Vince let out a sigh of relief as Machop wasn't caught up in the hyper beam and Pikachu quickly got back from the water-filled tunnels created earlier, still dripping a bit as both Pikachu and Machop eyed up the Furret...

Kyle's smile quickly turned into a frown as he realized exactly that he didn't get everyone in that last blow...Before Vince and Ash quickly called out to their pokemon, "Low Sweep, Quick Attack!" knowing that Furret was not in a very good place healthwise...

Both Machop and Pikachu quickly moved over to a tired and unmoving Furret, having exhausted itself earlier with the Hyper Beam got whacked in the back by the Quick Attack from Pikachu and flipped into the air by Machop's Low Sweep before crashing back into the ground and fainting as a result...

Kyle soon got out Furret's pokeball and returned his Furret, something he didn't do often as he said, "Good battle!"

Youngsters Ash & Vince defeated Black Belt Kyle and Beauty Katie!

Ash whooped in delight at winning as Vince called out to Gary, "Good job out there little bro!"

And with Furret down too, the battle was officially over!

Gary let out a soft sigh of relief, the challenge had been extremely difficult but they had won! Of course, he had no doubts about himself or Ash for that matter but, much to his surprise, the two kids were really good too... and obnoxious, as his spine tingled when Vince called him. But who cared about that, the adrenaline from the victory made him forget everything and shout back: "Thanks, big bro! I couldn't have done it without you!", making maybe the first genuine smile around Vince.

"Aaaaash!" Joshua cried, running towards his little bro just to hug him and spin together on the spot, him being the smaller kid moving around the older Ash. "We did it! That's our first victory together! We're the super best bro team ever!" Joshua cheered filled with happiness.

"Ugh... I guess I'll have to change my mind about you all. You're all brats... but you did a wonderful job here!" TJ remarked as he and his siblings walked over to the winners. He put a hand on his side and, swiping off his bangs, said with a smile: "You'll have no problems fighting against even stronger opponents during your journey now".

"Eh, of course, their teamwork can really turn the tides of the battle!" Joy remarked, smiling a little too. She was glad her little Vincy had managed to defeat them, showing that despite his age a bright future as a trainer was ahead of him.

Freeing Ash from the hug, Joshua reached Vince and, pulling him to his side with one hand on his shoulder, said: "Vince and I can do much more than that! Together, no one can stop us!", smiling brightly. Hearing so many compliments was making him getting in over his head a little.

Vince couldn't help but smile back at his little bro, feeling the genuineness of Gary's smile and said, "You held your own too, very good job!" feeling in the mood to use the carrot of praise on Gary for now anyways...

"Yes we did!" Ash said happily as Joshua cheered as he said, "Thanks for saving my pokemon a couple of time big brother" the happiness in victory making Ash thank Joshua for his work in the battle earlier...

Kyle was clapping for them and said, "You've got the skills, I'm sure you can make the League Tournament" as Katie smiled and said, "Can't wait to see what you'll be up to in the future" before checking the tablet she had with her and quickly rushed back into the house saying out loud, "It's done!"

Vince smiled at hearing that from Katie and as Joshua pulled him over and said, "Yeah, we definitely can do it!" as Kyle said, "Just make sure to never get overconfident, remember what Dad says"

Vince soon said back, "Never let your head get too big" repeating their dad's advice to all of them as Katie came back with a bag saying, "The outfits are done!" making Vince say, "Alright!" before peeking the bag open for them to take a look at it...
