Real World or Dream World

It was a nice spring day, and Marissa Hughes went to her boyfriend's room to see if he had waken up. The two of them lived together and she wanted to make sure he was okay. He was physically an adult, but had the mental capacity of a baby.

Twenty-four years old. Physically. It had been many years since the young man had been capable of understanding his situation. Just over six feet, the young man was sprawled across the bed, modified well before the capacity of a toddler bed. Bunches of blankets sprawled all about him, leaving a mishmash of raised limbs. For the middle of the spring, he wore a pair of diapers doubled up, and one of his old band tees from before the... split.

While he slept, things were little better. Never getting bigger. Stuffed into something half his size, it was like Joey was stuck in a living nightmare. Marissa held him once more... another big day done in the dreams of a babe, it was time for big thoughts to sleep.

And it was that Joey woke from his dream world, rolling over. A little bit of whining, as it was plain to see his sodden pants. "Ma-ma?" the giant boy babbled in his baritone. It was just... easier. Marissa seemed so complicated for the giant infant. Pulling himself up with the bars far before him. Able to sit upright, the rig Marissa had pulled together barred off the top; less likely to climb out and bruise something yet.

Marissa walked into Joey's room and towards the bed she had rigged for him. Joey's mental regression made it essential for Marissa to treat him like a toddler, from the bed to he diapers. As such, Marissa started to think of him as a toddler as well.

"Good Morning Joey," the young woman said warmly,
"How are ya doing buddy?" Marissa then did a routine diaper check and saw that Joey's diapers were soggy. "Looks like someone's wet," Marissa said, lowering the guard rails on Joey's bed and taking Joey out to the changing table. She then quickly changed Joey into a new diaper. "There, now how's that feel Joey?"

Little noises from the young man made it quite noticeable for his care giver to recognize that was up and ready to get moving from his overnight sleepy time. The door to his room opened by Marissa and the enormous toddler was quite pleased. The rails slid down, while she inquired after his status. It was a little difficult to put a number on the young man's "age", but today he seemed a little more grown up than most days.
"Good, mama!" the boy chirped clumsily, as she checked his diapers and began to fix things as was usual. Up and then down, the man laid on the table giggling. "Bettuh!" Soggy bottoms gone, his new diaper was less thick--only by margin of being the single diaper instead of two--which didn't mean too much. Sitting up on his own, he smiled delightfully at her. Mama made things better always! Arms out for a morning snuggle, he grinned his toothy grin.

"Glad to hear it bud, " Marissa smiled after seeing how happy Joey was to be changed. It had been a long time since the two of them were a couple, but the love Marissa felt for her boyfriend hadn't gone away; it just changed over time.

"Hehe, you wanna snuggle huh? You always were a romantic" Marissa laughed at Joey's outstretched arms. "Let's go to the couch and get comfy, " the young woman said, leading Joey to a couch in the living room for their morning snuggle.

To most, they'd believe their relationship strange now. It was a blessing that Joey was still involved with Marissa in some degree. So intimately even. Just a different kind. Off the long changing table and onto the floor, he wobbled on his feet like any toddler would. He giggled in his baritone, as they departed from his room. Waddling down the carpeted halls, they made it to the living room as was normal each morning.

"Cahm-fee!" It was almost like he understood the core concepts, but they didn't quite surface at his whims. Plopping down with a crinkle and a laugh on the edge of the couch, he was waiting for Marissa to settle herself down before he'd lay back into her.
