Appearance:
Selene is a small, tanned skinned and dark haired five-year old with big, fuzzy black cat ears and a floofy tail to along with it. She has amber eyes which have the iris of a feline giving her a slightly scary glare sometimes, especially if she gives a hard stare! She is often wearing cute little dresses that but her favourite has to be her plain purple short-sleeved one and she’ll usually choose that over anything else if made available since it’s in one of her most loved colors.
Her long, silky, thick hair is always a little messy like her ears and tail and no amount of brushing ever seems to make it straight, and people have most definitely tried, her hair would simply just have at least a few strands out of place, or even worse just all over the place! This doesn’t seem to bother her in the slightest, though. It looks good in a ponytail or in braids which she has attempted herself and failed.
History:
Selene was born of a French mother and American neko-mimi father, but unfortunately her father passed away not long before she was born which was the start of her mother’s breakdown.
After learning that her daughter had a medical issue making her need to use diapers for the rest of her life, along with how cat-like she could be she began to struggle to understand her daughter. She began to start yelling at Selene for no reason, getting mad whenever she mew or chase objects around the room playfully begging her to be more human.
Eventually, not long after Selene started school she began to suffer bullying from other students for her feline tendencies and for needing diapers due to her medical issue, to a point where she grew less open to other children and would often hide during recess.
Despite starting to fear going to school she did find one reason to keep going, music. She found that she could pick up the violin fast and it kept her going just to survive until she could play it again she would try to tell her mother how good she was in attempt to get to get her love and praise.
After a bad incident of bullying where it looked like she was in a fight (or more like, she was pinned down while the kid punched her over and over) her mother got called into school where she was given the blame for starting the fight even though she had done nothing to provoke the child who attacked her.
Her mother, already thinking the worst of her child as being nothing but an animal believed this story and shook her head apologising for her child’s behaviour before taking her home and finally losing her temper completely, she screamed at Selene for causing her problems since she could walk, saying she’d never truly be her daughter because she was just some animal not a little girl before locking her in the basement to “protect everyone from a thing like you” leaving Selene crying and in extreme emotional pain.
The neighbours heard lots of banging and screaming coming from Selene’s mother and her insanity and called the police knowing there was a child there, believing there was abuse of some sort going on. When they arrived they found her mother mumbling some things to herself which was incomprehensible along with the sounds of a crying child coming from the basement.
They found Selene curled up on the floor sobbing her small heart out, they had already decided that the mother was not capable of looking after her daughter, and she seemed to react badly to seeing the small girl when they carried her out.
After being taken care of, talked to and calmed down at least a little they made arrangements for Selene to be placed into a home where she’d be safe and taken care of and her mother being placed under arrest for suspected abuse and arranged to be institutionalised for her mental health.
Personality:
Selene is a very gentle little girl, she is very careful not to bring harm to anyone and is actually likely to cry at least a little during conflicts. She can be easily startled by loud noises and hates being shouted at.
She is very quiet-natured and doesn’t speak too much, which of course can make her a great listener since she is far better at doing that than making conversation!
She can be a little self-conscious about her feline habits, and has gained the need to apologise for them whenever she does any cat-like antics and may even feel a little guilty.
She can at times, act very young for her age.
School: She had only started school not too long ago, she seems to be showing potential in music.
Interests/Hobbies: She loves music, particularly the violin. She also loves to color with her crayons since it was one of the only things she could do while living with her mother other than play with some baby-ish toys.
Miscellaneous:
-She has to use diapers due to a medical issue which she can be very self-conscious about, and may not mention when she needs to be changed at first.
-She is easily distracted by moving objects and may try to pounce them, it’s best to watch her while out just in case.
-Her English can sometimes be a little off due to the fact her mother would only speak French to her, since school she has gotten better but can still make mistakes or get confused by some words.
