Slaves to the Shadows (Private for Cardiac88, The_Enigma, and Shadow King)
Saia looked through her spyglass, spotting Akiil only ten minutes away. She had been awake for nearly twenty four hours straight as they sailed away from Darilo. Not just in anticipation of reaching the Varak Islands, but because there was always the threat of monsters out at sea. Dragons, Krakens, Leviathans, and the like were always a constant threat in the Camnilia Ocean... You had to keep a watchful eye if you ever wanted to make it across there alive.
She yawned groggily, her eyelids starting to feel as heavy as the anchor of the ship. She couldn't wait to get to the inn and sleep the rest of the night. "Tellie... we'll be there in another ten minutes..." She said, turning towards her angel-winged companion. "Ugh... Can you believe that we ran into an entire Kraken nest?" She recalled the event that happened merely two hours ago.

Telilin Qantafle lay haphazardly on the deck, her unfocused eyes drying as she stared unblinkingly at the afternoon sky. Her wings were wrapped clumsily around her arms as pieces of armor and various clothing were strewn about her in a pile, a futile attempt to beat the pervasive heat.
"Ugh... Can you believe that we ran into an entire Kraken nest?"
Tellie remembered it well, scenes and images flashing across her subconscious as she gaped and stared at the clouds. Every limb ached, a dull pain that both stung and numbed, permeating every part of her exhausted frame. Her arms ached. Her legs ached. Her fingers ached. Even her wings ached, and they don't even have nerve endings. Indeed, it was a tumultuous battle with the Kraken nest, one that put both her and her partner in a state of intense lethargy. It didn't help that it was blasted hot, either.
Tellie was hard pressed to move, let alone think. With a combination from fatigue, heat, and a lack of sleep, she turned her head to the Elf mustered the most intelligent response she could.
"...hurh."

Hasselobel walked through the port town of Akiil, waiting for ships to come in and leave. On almost every ship that came in she could find at least one being she could ensnare and turn into her own, and on every ship that would leave she would send a few of her warriors out into the world to wait for the day she declared war on all of the world.
She walked to the dock, her dark tanned skin a large contrast to her silver white hair. A long purple dress hugged her curves and accentuated everything good about her body. She sat at the docks for a short while, spotting a ship in the distance before walking back to her abode. Her house was large for only housing one person, mainly because she enjoyed helping travelers find a place to stay.

Saia sighed as their boat reached port. Before she disembarked, she made sure she had Telilin safely in her grasp. The poor girl was even more battered than she was. "C'mon, Tellie... let's get to an inn for the night." She said as she led her companion off of the ship. Slowly, the two trudged towards the closest inn they could find.
As the two adventurers entered the inn, Saia set Tellie down on a nearby chair. "Stay here while I get us checked in." She said. She groped around in the pockets of her trousers as she walked towards the front desk, trying to find her gold pouch.

The sun beat relentlessly down, never ceasing in its desperate attempt to make all things hot and uncomfortable. Although the inn provided a relative amount of coolness with its shade, it still wasn't enough to counteract the unbearable heat outside. Tellie slumped in her chair, her wings drooping pitifully beside her, her jaw hanging open. She lay in a half-doze, willing herself to stay awake until they get to a proper bed, despite her exhaustion. With her mouth hanging open for awhile, it dawned on Tellie that it was getting quite dry. Snapping her jaw shut, she tried to swallow and produce some spit to moisten her mouth. She was met with disappointment, however, as only dry, dusty air got caught in her throat. Mustering every last iota of energy she had left, she called out to whoever was in earshot "Iced tea...parched..."
(OOC: Guys, I'm going to be gone for a week starting this Sunday. Sorry I didn't warn you guys any sooner, but it just dawned on me that my absence would affect the RP.)

It was Hasselobel who answered that call, standing by the doorway of the inn, seeing the two weary travelers before her, suspecting that neither was able to pay the inn's rather large daily fee.
"If you come with me I can give you a room as well as a cold meal to help cool you down." she said in a beautiful sounding voice, almost like a chorus of angels. "My rooms are cold, being that the are underground, a great escape for the two of you who seem to have had a bit too much of the heat here."
((OOC: no problem Enigma, make sure to post when you come back though, or if you snag a chance while you are away.))

Saia quickly turned to see the beautiful woman standing in the doorway. She looked over towards Tellie, and then set her gaze back towards the woman. She swiftly stepped towards her angel-winged friend. "Can't believe I forgot my gold..." She muttered as she put Tellie's arm over her shoulder, and lifted the girl up onto her feet. Saia was starting to feel the effects of the heat herself... but she would endure it. Her home village could be much hotter and much more muggy than this.
Slowly, Saia walked to Hasselobel, making sure to keep Tellie on her feet. "It would be much appreciated, Miss." She said as she approached the gorgeous woman.

Tellie made no effort as her elven friend struggled to lift her out of the chair. Literally leaning on her shoulder, she was dragged by her companion to the dark-skinned lady waiting at the door. The woman faded in and out of focus as Tellie's eyes drifted along her body. Even though she caught only glimpses of their host, Telilin marked her stunning beauty; a shapely body, a hefty bosom, and an air of sexiness all poured off of the woman, which caused a pang of jealousy to tweak in Tellie's mind. It was buried under exhaustion in a matter of seconds, however, and she lost interest in the woman at the moment in favor of a bed and something to drink.

Hasselonel lead them to her humble abode, a two story house with basement. All together the house contained something like seven rooms, for which she used all but her own to house weary and poor strangers before working her magic on them.
She lead the two women down into the basement, where the air was cool and moist, and only small hints of sunlight shown through small glass windows in the ground. To someone looking in, they would only see darkness, as was her barrier spell, resurrected about the space. Ni whispers or yells would ever reach the outside, but her guests were never to know.
She lead the two into a room at the far right corner of a hallway. In the room stood two rather large beds, all of the sheets made of fine fabric. To the side of the room was connected a fine bathroom including many luxurious materials. One would wonder how she had come upon enough riches to create such a space. However, and oddity or two that sat in the corner, were a pair of baby cribs, containing the same luxury of the beds.
"I hope you don't mind, this room is usually used for those carrying young children, but it is also the largest and coolest." she stated. "Would either of you like something to drink while you settle in?"

Saia set Tellie down on the bed nearest to them as they reached their destination. She looked towards Hasellobel, and nodded. "I'd like a glass of water... And I believe Tellie here wanted some iced tea." She smiled. "Thank you for taking us in, Miss." She said as she wiped the sweat from her forehead. She sighed happily, glad to be out of the overwhelming heat of the outside, and sat down on the same bed Tellie was on.
