Sue was shocked when seeing the blood, quickly reacing for a tissue to wipe it off her mouth.
- Oh dear, what happened? Are you all right? - she said with a really worried tone.
- Can you breathe? Do you feel a pain in your chest? - she asked quickly, before reaching for her pager.
- I'll alert Dr. Bradock this instant. You'll need a checkup immediately.

- I bet you do, it's dinner time... come on, get dressed, it's time to have a good meal.

- Good girl - the Doctor smiled, leading her by her hand. Normally, a patient in the high security wing would only be let out of her room in restraints, but Rumi seemed to be cooperative so far, and the doctor was pretty sure he could overcome a little girl if she became agressive.
- Here we are - he stopped before a door that had a plaquet reading "Examination room 1" on it. His hand was on the knob when his pager started beeping. Reaching for it, he looked at the screen and frowned.
- Excuse me, Rumi, you'll have to go in alone, Dr. Simmons will be waiting for you. - he opened the door and nudged her inside, nodding to Simmons and closing the door, starting to walk quickly towards the low security ward.

"I don't hurt anywhere, but I'm cold." Akari said with a shiver as she spoke.

Rumi walked into the examination room nervously. She was timid with new people, but she decided to be brave.

Sue quickly reached over to check her temperature, and felt it being higher than normal. She then pulled the zipper down on her sleeper and checked the girl's diapers.
- Let's get you out of this dirty sleeper... do you need your nappy changed too? - she asked, hoping Dr. Bradock would arrive soon.

- Good - Helen offered her a hand, not sure she'd take it, after all she was in the age when kids start to find that awkward.
- I think dinner's ready. - she added, starting to walk with her towards the dining room.

Dr. Daniel Simmons was the Institute's pediatric physician, and generally he was responsible for the physical welfare of the inmates. A generally kind man in his late 30's, who took great care of his appearance and first impression.
- Come on in - he waved over to Rumi, inviting her closer. He had a white doctor's coat on with a phonendoscope over his neck.
- Don't worry, it won't hurt, maybe it'll feel a little cold, but that's going to be all. - he said trying to encourage the child, then gave her the instructions.
- Take that gown off, please. I'll need to listen to your heart and the cloth would get in the way.

Akari shivered a bit. "I wet myself." She said after rubbing her forehead.

Rumi cautiously walked in and fidgeted. She blushed as she removed her gown, leaving her in her cotton panties.

- All right, let's get you changed quickly before the doctor arrives. - Sue said and peeled the sleeper off her, then picked Akari up and laid her on the changing table, going through the well-practiced process of removing her wet diaper, cleaning her up, and putting her in a fresh one, after applying a generous amount of baby powder. Just when she finished, Dr. Bradock opened the door and rushed in, holding a bag of diagnostic tools.
- I came as fast as I could. What's the situation?
- She coughed up blood and I think she has fever. - Sue answered, and stepped aside.
- Alright, Akari, I'll try to find out what's wrong. - the doctor said, picking the girl up again and putting her back on her bed, then rummaging through the bag for a thermometer strip and stuck it on her forehead.
- This'll tell me if you have a fever... - he explained, while putting on his phonendoscope.
- Breathe normally now, try not to wriggle even if this will feel cold. - he instructed, while listening to her heart, then her lungs.
- Alright, now take some reaaally deep breaths. - he listened a little more, then put the phonendoscpoe back to the bag, before fetching a blood pressure monitor, and putting the inflatable cuff on her right forearm.
- Lie down and stay put while this works. - he said, and started the device. The doctor took some notes, took the thermometer strip off her forehead, and pat her head gently with a smile.
- Nothing too bad. No fluid in your lungs, no high blood pressure, a little fever is everything. You probably caught some germs. A few pills and a few days and you'll be all right. - then he turned to Sue.
- Give her Ibuprofen as initial antypyretic and Neomycin for the infection. We need to wipe it out as fast as we can.
- Alright, I need to get going... see you later, Akari! - he nodded and exited the room, while Sue was looking at the closet again.
- Hm... I wonder what could you wear. I've got another sleeper, some onesies, nighties... and what is this doing here? - she seemed surprised, then started chuckling.
- Looks like they thought you might go crazy - she turned around and showed her what looked like a child straitjacket, but made of a soft fabric with childish motives and the bottom buttoning like a onesie.
- I hope you don't want to go crazy - she winked at the girl and put it back in the closet.

Helen chuckled, hearing her stomach growl.
- Wow, someone's really hungry - she noted, when they arrived to the diner.
- Your lucky day, Kara, we don't get to eat hamburgers every day - she added, looking at the menu.

Dr. Simmons watched with a smile as Rumi stripped down to panties with a blush.
- Don't be so shy, I'm a doctor... now come closer and stand still, try to breathe normally. - he said then started listening to her heart and chest.
- Turn around and take a few deep breaths. - he instructed, and Rumi could feel the pohendoscope on her back on a few points before the next instruction came.
- Climb up to that bed and lie down, please, on your back.

Akari blinked as she saw the jacket, fidgeting a little. She stretched a bit and watched as Sue went through the closet.

Sue chuckled seeing Akari's reaction.
- Don't worry, no one's going to put this on you unless you want to try it. How about a nice cute clean sleeper then? - she asked, hearing out what she wanted.

- Told you it'll be cold - the doctor snickered, a little relieved as he didn't hear anything wrong with her lungs. After the girl laid down, he put a blood pressure monitor on her right arm, then, after getting the results, as gently as he could, palpated out the girl's kidneys and liver, to see if there's anything out of the ordinary.
- Seems like you're all right, sit up, let your feet dangle at the side. - he instructed once again, and there came a reflex check on both her knees.
After that, he showed her his right index finger.
- Grab my finger as fast as you can, first with your right hand, then with your left. - he told her as the motoric skills test commenced. This was made to see how accurate and controlled her movements are, as the medications she received might cause slowed reflexes.

"Are my bunny PJs in there?" Akari asked, laying on her tummy.

Rumi's right arm was about average speed, but her left was considerably slower.

- The one with the puffy tail and the hood with the bunny ears? - Sue asked back, sorting through her clothes until she found it.
- Yes, it's here - she pulled it out with a smile, and went to the little girl to help her into it.
- Soon you'll be hopping like a bunny too. - she winked.

The fact that her right hemisphere motoric functions were slower than her left, was a little disturbing. Dr. Simmons eyed her cautiosly.
- Interesting... - he reached for a penlight.
- Try not to blink at the light. - he said, before illuminated both her eyes to check her pupil reflex.
- For the time being, you should stop taking your pills. We'll start another kind of treatment. You can get dressed for now. I'll call Dr. Bradock to pick you up. - he reached for the phone.
- Matt? Yes... the side effects kicked in... no, nothing serious yet but you should take her off the meds... You're the expert on it, not me, how should I know... no, of course not, but she reacts too strong to... Yes, I know. Could you... OK. - he put the phone down and sighed.
- He'll be here is a minute. Why don't you take this in the meantime? You were a good girl, you deserve some reward - he said, offering her a lollipop.
