In a alternate universe the History of Gems was different there home world was lost so they invade other worlds to live in by making half the world for gems and keeping out the native spices.
Earth was one of these worlds
Pearl has been studying Humans and is fascinated by the idea of babies caring for them but due to how ages work for gems compared to humans she mistakes most humans for babies.
A human accidentally winds up on a gem part of the world and Pearl finds him and forces him to come home with her to be her baby.
Another idea is the same but the Gems take over everything and Pink's way of running it is having Humans be treated as kids toddlers and Babies
That or Gems invade worlds still but Pink doesn't rebel and as thanks for her helping she lets Pearl pick a reward and after reading about humans and learning about babies and mothers she picks a human to take back to home world with her to be her baby.
