"Well," Professor Oak responded, "At least that solves the problem I came here to talk about." He walked in and sat on the couch. "Before he came home to you, he came to see me. He was very despondent, and depressed, and he said he was seriously considering giving up training. Here's why...)
(What follows is a condensed version of what the explanation, but still a bit longish)
Apparently, Ash had been suffering some sort of depression ever since the very first day he left home. Ash explained all that happened that day up until the calls home, and that Ash had felt so worthless and lonely that he wanted to go home that day. He had wanted to tell his mother exactly what happened, but after she told him to be confident, he couldn't bear to tell her. Looking back he wished he had said it, for he thought if he had, she would have said to come home, and that a part of him felt abandoned. Later on, with the constant rotation of who traveled with him, he felt abandoned by everyone that left for any reason or another, especially Misty, the first one he met. Plus, with all the tournaments he lost, he wasn't getting any closer to being a Pokemon Master, and even if he had won, the Indigo League was still the only one that mattered. He had been hurting so long, but he always put on a happy face because he thought no one would believe his problems The last region, he hadn't wanted to leave, but he felt forced to because it was expected. But the trainers there were arrogant, cruel and sadistic, and when Ash beat them, they roughed him up considerable, one even threatened to push him over a steep cliff. After that one, he decided to stop and take a bus home in the next town. While waiting, he saw the news about a wave of scandals that had engulfed certain famous trainers: illegal methods, unsavory personal lives, financial fraud, and so on. Plus, these sadistic trainers were now the ones that made to the top and were paid handsomely for it. It sickened Ash, and it made him want to leave this sport that was no longer what he loved about it. Basically, he had run from his pain for so long, now when it engulfed him, it was overwhelming. Professor Oak had been so worried, he wanted Ash to see a psychologist.

Delia was somewhat shocked. She no idea that any of this had happened to Ash. Eventually Delia spoke. "So what should we do?" She asked. She was very lost in this situation and wanted some guidence.

"Well, by the looks of things, Ash is quite happy now where he is. I think that this baby thing is exactly what he needs, for it will obviously help to rebuild his shattered innocence." Professor Oak grinned. "I also think that you should tell his friends about what has happened-they all care very much about him, and he'll be glad to see them. You might also want to find someone like him to have a playdate with, there are lots people doing this, it's just not widely talked about. But first..." He walked over and put his hands on Delia's shoulders. "You have to talk to him and reassure him. I know you're now feeling a little guilty, and I don't blame you. But both of you will feel better."

Delia thanked Oak for all that he had said. She went back upstairs to find Ash still playing with the toys. "Oak told me what was going on, Ash." She said a note of sadness in her voice.

Delia sat down next to the boy. "Ash, you could never do that. I just wished you told me sooner and you could've stopped." She said pulling the boy into a hug.

Ash felt so much better with his mother's words, and they kissed each other for several minutes. Then, Ash's stomach rumbled. "Hungwy, Mommy. Oatmeal and Mommy milk, pwease?"

Delia felt happy that Ash had come to terms with everything and enjoyed the cuddling.
"Of course darling." She said picking Ash up and carrying him downstairs.
(Would Ash be able to walk?)

(He can crawl, stand up, and waddle for short distances.)
Ash was placed in the big person's high chair, and felt quite secure as his mother went about making the oatmeal, which had always been one of his favorite things to eat. A thought popped into his head. "My fwiends. What they fink?"

Delia stopped making oatmeal and thought about it for a moment. "Your friends don't know yet Ash." She said not wanting to upset him. "Do you want them to know?"
