Taken

Alex panted, hunched forward and hands on his knees, breathing heavily. "Cooper! Cooper come back!" He called out into the night. The ten year old boy was scared out of his mind, being in the park after darkness. He had been walking his dog Cooper home when the dog spotted a dear and was gone, yanking the leash out of Alex's grip. Alex knew the dog always went home, but his grandfather would be angry if he didn't come back with the dog. And after Cooper ran off, Alex had gotten beat up by a bunch of bullies, and they had thrown open his backpack and ripped his book up, along with giving the boy a black eye.

It was easier to pick on him because he was a little short for his age, liked reading, and was very smart. He was far from a know-it-all and was very nice, yet physically he wasn't strong. And he had braces, which of course gave him the illusion of being a dork. Which he kinda was. he didn't like star wars or anything, yet he was just... not as interested in violence as the other boys.

The boy touched his eye, wincing. His cheeks were already wet with tears and he was terrified. His short, shaggy blonde hair was streaked his dirt and mud, and his shirt ripped down the side. He heard something behind him and spun around; he wasn't alone.

Tamia was currently sitting in the bushes of the park Jack was in, watching him. He had followed this kid for the past few hours, and had seen him getting attacked by bullies. He didn't interfere though, out of fear that they would go after him next. Instead, he had stayed quiet and merely watched. Tamia had a terrible home life and preferred to stay away from it as much as possible. He knew how it felt to feel powerless because of a bully, or an authority figure and he hated it.

He then blinked his eyes, feeling a strange feeling in his stomach. Something was about to happen, something bad. He didn't know what it was, but he knew that he needed to get away from here now. So, jumping out of the bushes, he began to run, but froze a few feet away from Jack. He couldn't move, something had made him literally unable to move his legs, arms, or even his eyes. He stood there, helpless to do anything.

Alex frowned as he heard rusting, wiping face on his sleeve as he cried silently. His sweatshirt was a bit too baggy, because everything was hand-me-downs from his brothers. He choked back a sob when he heard rustling, and suddenly some kid was next to him, about his age. Alex opened his mouth to say something, be he couldn't move. He saw the lights in the sky, and felt fear pounding in his chest. Slowly, he felt his feet leave the ground, and he was lifted up. His insides felt like they were inside a washing machine, slamming around in his chest. Everything blurred and slipped away, and suddenly he was completely weightless and saw no more.

He wasn't sure if he was dreaming, but he had to be. Drifting off into murk and lights, everything was harsh and unfamiliar, his senses dulled and he couldn't see. He felt empty.
"I have too hide you... For now... Trust me... Only way..." Little bits and pieces of conversation as Alex drifted in and out of consciousness.

When the boy finally opened his eyes, he didn't recognize anything. He was curled up on a pile of blankets and cushions, with in relative darkness. Although he could see someone beside him, he was scared. He pushed himself back into the corner, hugging his legs into his chest and resting his chin on them. He was so scared, he felt like he was about to start crying again. He managed to hold it together, long enough to crawl over and tentatively wake the sleeping boy at his feet.
"H-hello?" He stuttered, trying to get the boys attention. "D-do ya know w-where we are?" He asked, fear present in his voice.

Tamia let out a loud groan at waking up, and instinctively tried to curl up. "Huh, what," He asked with a groan, blinking his eyes and looking at the other boy. Unsure, he rubbed his eyes gently, trying to get the sleeping crud out of them, before letting out another yawn and saying, "Not a clue." He groaned and stretched his back on the cushions, before slowly struggling to stand up. He glanced around their room, trying to figure out what was going on. He then looked down at the other boy again before saying, "Wait, your that boy from the park. The one that got picked on and bullied by those other boys."

"H-huh?" Alex asked, rubbing his head again. He looked up at the boy, and looked down on his feet and shrugged. "Uh, yeah... But they're stupid! They just think because maybe I-I like reading more than sports means they can beat me up..." He stuttered, frowning. "But uh, who are you?" He asked quickly, trying to change the subject. He was weak, but he wanted this new boy to maybe think he wasn't so bad...

"Name's Tamia," He said with a frown, looking around the strange room. "I still wanna know where we are," He said, running over to the wall, and kicking it, feeling trapped. "Let me out," He said with a growl, kicking it again, before crossing his arms. "I feel like we're being set up. Someone's watching us right now, laughing," He said with a huff, sitting back on the floor.

"I'm Alex." The boy said, and watched as he kicked the wall. "I don't t-think that'll work much." he said quietly, but then looked around nervously. "Do you... actually think someone's watching us?" He asked fearfully, looking around the room. "Oh man I just wanna go home." He said hopelessly, hugging his legs into his chest. He heard footsteps, and his blood ran cold. His heard pounded in his ears as they grew louder and louder.

"Better than doing nothing," He said with a growl, kicking it harder, before groaning. "Damn, where the hell are we," He shouted as loud as he could, stomping around the room, ignoring the footsteps. He was much too upset to be even give them any attention. He wanted answer first and foremost.

"Tamia." Alex whispered, trying to get his attention. He got up shakily and started towards the boy. The footsteps were getting louder and louder. How did Tamia not hear them? Alex didn't want him to get in trouble for yelling. But as he got right up to the boy, a hissing sound was heard and the footsteps stopped. A large block of white light appeared on the wall, blinding Alex and causing him to fall back next to Tamia. The boy shook in terror, and looked up at a silhouette standing in the doorway.
"You need to be more quiet." A voice said. "You're not even supposed to be here. Explaining your presence and vouching for you two will be hard enough without all the noise. If you want to live, I'd suggest being quiet." Alex could now make out the woman. She was tall, looked to be in her very early 20s. She was stunningly gorgeous, except Alex noticed non of this first. Instead, he noticed the very pale white skin, and the golden eyes. He felt like he was going to cry. Whatever this was, as beautiful as she first seemed, Alex knew it wasn't human.

(Changing his name to Alex because I overuse Jack and really need to start branching out with characters.)

"Who the heck are you," Tamia said with a growl, crossing his arms and glaring at her. "Your not the boss of me. Let us go," He ordered. "What do you mean we aren't even supposed to be here," He questioned, backing away as he realized that whatever she was, she wasn't normal and wasn't human. Something strange was going on.
