"He's a complete dork," Toph said, before suddenly remembering what was happening, "And, he happens to be my age, which, I cannot stress enough, is twenty-two!"

Toph hopped off of the changing table, and ran back to the door. It was, unfortunately, still locked.

"Why are you so insistent on doing this to me!?" She cried out.

Nami shook her head. Toph was certainly stubborn,

“Adulthood is not simply by age of years, it is also about maturity. You seem to lack it.”
Nami levitated over to Toph, her face of anguished demand contrasted by Nani’s softness.

“I told you, very few visit here, I’ve been waiting for a chance to perform my duties. You are a perfect candidate. Blind, short, and all too eager to lose your temper.”

She lifted Toph up and rubbed her back in a soothing manner.

“You’ll see that I am no scheming devil, merely a caretaker,”

"Spirits are inherently scheming weirdos!" Toph said, struggling in her arms, "I don't think I've ever met one that wasn't!"

Toph couldn't do anything, but it didn't stop her from trying. She squirmed, and kicked, and writhed, all to escape the vice-like grip of the spirit.

“Well, this spirit is a little different, sweetie.”

Nami kept rubbing Toph’s back, lightly picking her up as well.
“Maybe you’ll be less grumpy after a nap. You’ve had a long day, haven’t you? Or would you like to play with some toys?”

"Take a hint, lady," Toph practically spat, "I'm never going to like baby toys. Even if you do manage to turn me back into a pants-shitting five-year-old, I'll still hate the stupid toys!"

Toph was too embarrassed and confused to even think straight. This level of defiance against a spirit had results that ranged from face-loss to literal actual death. But, in this moment, she really didn't care. She was being debased, demeaned, and degraded, and she was having none of it!

Nami was not deterred, laughing a little at Toph’s vocabulary.
“My, my, someone’s in a bad mood. Who taught you to talk like that.”

Nami placed Toph on the floor. Toys were on the ground, ranging from soft animals to wooden shapes.

“How about we play a game instead before you have a little nap? If you can tell me about yourself, I’ll give you a little treat.”
Nami levitated over a pacifier.

“Of course, if you’re too tired, I can just put you to bed now?”

Toph "saw" the pacifier, and understood what the spirit was implying. She sighed heavily, sucking down her pride, before opening her mouth.

"My name is Toph," She began, "I'm an earthbender, my parents are rich, stuck-up, and annoying, I'm friends with the Avatar, I don't like things being done for me, and, as a result of all of these things, I absolutely despise what's going on here. There are your five things, lady."

Jamie smiled at Toph’s answer and eagerly clapped her hands.
“Good work, you’ve earned your special prize. Do me a favour and close your eyes.”

When Toph did so, Nami outstretch a single finger, aglow with spirit energy, and lightly tapped her on the forehead.
“Boop. Open your eyes.”

"That's..." Toph said, looking around the room.

For the first time in her life, she was actually looking at things. The world was so bright, or at least, the spirit's world. She saw now the glowing pink, robed woman, in the pink room. She didn't even know how she knew the name of that color, it just felt right on the spirit. She'd heard people talk about color before, and that was decidedly that bright, offensive, girly color that even had a name that offended Toph.

"This is impossible..." She said, getting up, before falling back onto her cushioned rear, "This can't be happening, it just can't... My whole life, I learned to live without sight, and yet... yet... you took the last thing I had! My last strength, not even needing my eyes. I hate this stupid place! I can't bent a speck of dust, and I cant see! WWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHHHHAHAAAAAAAA"

Toph burst into tears, curling up on the floor and feeling utterly inadequate.

Nami blinked at Toph’s response. She had assumed she’d be happy to see like everyone else. Her instincts told her to comfort Toph, wrapping her arms around her.
“Shhh, don’t worry. You’ll learn to see. I’ll teach you tomorrow.”
She carried Toph to the nursery and left her down in a crib. She levitated a pacifier into her mouth and a toy beside her.

“Sweet dreams.”
