The effort and rehabilitation required to adjust to automail was arduous, but Ed and his brother managed to put up with it. The boys still had no regrets about what they had done. They had their mother back, and they still had each other. Nothing else mattered.

(I still want the military to eventually catch wind of what the boys have done and send Mustang to investigate, but let's hold off on that for a while and focus instead on Trisha making up for lost time with her sons)

Winry tended to come over and help out, especially to change Trisha. Everyone was quite close. Ed and Al woke to seeing both ladies standing over them.

Ed grinned when he saw his best friend and his mother standing over his bed. "Good morning," he told them politely in response. He was a little messy and very wet at this time.

Ed had noticed how often Winry had been helping out around the house lately. He suspected she may have been using their situation as an excuse to spend more time with him. Not that he could complain. He enjoyed her company, and she was his go-to automail mechanic.
