Two Roomies and a Trinket (Private with Vyx)

"Thanks, Vyx." Daniel smiled as he was handed a slice of the cake. He then carefully cut a small piece with his fork, and ate it slowly, checking it for texture and quality. He was pleasantly surprised by how moist and rich the cake was, and knew Vyxen would most likely love it, too.

"They outdid themselves at the bakery!" he said with a smile, waiting to see Vyxen's reaction when she ate her own slice. "I know you're excited about your gift, but try not to rush through eating this cake, Vyxen," Daniel joked, "just enjoy it. I promise it's that good!"

"Oh come on, I cant be that good." Vyxen said jokingly, slipping the slice into her mouth. Tasting the quality and pure vanilla she nearly squealed. "Oh my god, it's amazing! ThankYouThankYouThankYou!" She exlaimed, hungrily devouring her slice of cake. She mumbled incomprehensible words of thanks as she ate, smiling the entire time.

Daniel couldn't help but chuckle at Vyxen's response. "Can't be that good, huh?" he winked, taking his time with his own slice and reaching into his pocket, just to make sure the gift was still there. It was, and he soon felt a little anxious, wondering and hoping Vyxen would like it. She got excited just talking about opening it, though, so that helped calm his nerves some.

"Sorry the cake is so big. I told the bakery it was just for two people, but apparently they don't make cakes that small. Looks like we'll have dessert for the rest of the week." he giggled before going back to finishing the last three bites of cake. "Let me know if you want more, though. It is your birthday, after all, so you can do whatever you want!" he paused and then quickly said, "Within reason, of course!"

Quickly finishing her slice of cake, Vyxen looked back over at her roommate. "Now then... What's in the box, Daniel~." She asked cheerfully, her mind solely focused on opening her gift. She set the plate to the side, leaning over the table and eyeing his pocket.

She couldn't wait at all. Daniel went through all this trouble for her birthday, and she was sure it would be something amazing. Vyxen smiled, happy to be with him.

Initially hoping Vyxen would ask for seconds so he could mentally prepare himself for the gift giving, Daniel wiped his brow softly when she asked him for the gift.

"Oh, you mean this?" he asked, pulling the box out of his pocket. The box was made of a dark chestnut wood, and had a thin gold trim with little metal latch. "Well, I found this along my travels while trying to find you something...but as you know, you are a little tough to get presents for since you always so you don't know what you want." he stuck his tongue out playfully before continuing.

"I think you'll like it. Open it up and I'll tell you more about it." he smiled, handing it towards Vyxen shyly.

Vyxen took the box in her hands, opening it. She held up a small blue teardrop, with two tails that came out of it and formed a small x where they crossed. Almost like an 8 with the top missing. "Oh my god Daniel, it's so cute~!" Squeling in delight, she held it in her palm, the blue like gem shining. "This is perfect! What's it do?"

"O-oh, I'm so glad you like it!" Daniel sighed in relief, watching as Vyxen inspected the small trinket in her hand. "W-well, I got it from this antique store. The owner claims it's supposed to help give you exactly what you need, whatever that means. He claimed the woman who sold it to him said it was magic, and that if you wish for something, sometimes it will grant it, just in a way that you least expect."

Daniel chuckled. "I just thought it looked really nice and that you'd like it."

Drawing a small thread from her pocket, Vyxen wrapped it through the trinket and hung it around her neck. "It's so pretty...." She commented, holding it in her hands. As her eyes closed, she held it between her hands in a praying motion. "I wish... to be carefree, if only for a little while." She thought to herself, opening her eyes and looking back at Daniel. "All done~." She said, wondering if the trinket would actually grant her wish.

Daniel watched as Vyxen made her wish, wondering what she'd wished for. Furthermore, he wondered exactly how the trinket would work (if it worked, that is). Would it affect other people in the area?

When Vyxen opened her eyes, Daniel looked at his hands. "Oh, whew! I'm still here! Thank God, I thought you wished me away!" he laughed, winking at his roommate again to show her he was kidding, unaware of whatever it was she had actually wished for. "I know the antique dealer said something about it not working immediately, either....maybe it comes true the next day?" he suggested.

Vyxen laughed. "Sure, we'll see what happens~." She said, giggling back at Daniel. She hoped something like this would go in her favor just this once, mostly because classes and her job started to take their toll on her. "Oh my god, Daniel it's 9:00 already!" The girl gasped, looking over at the clock. "I've got work in the morning tomorrow, ugh...."
