It's probably more original since when I write a story involving a character from a canon series being diapered... I kind of RESEARCH the character and what they do across the series and try to expand upon any possibilities that could lead to diaper wearing and infantilism.
The one thing I hate about diaper stories is having no real explanation as to why the character is diapered.
Usually when I diaper a character, it is usually because of psychological issues or significant physical issues to warrant them. In addition, I strive for the cute aspect to make it pleasing to myself, with family stuff being a big thing.
Example. Lan Hikari from Battle Network. Saved the World 6 Times. Got Electrocuted on a number of occasions. Older Identical Twin Brother died of a Genetic Heart Disease and was reborn as his NetNavi Megaman. Said NetNavi was stolen from him in the fifth game (corrupted by Shademan in Rockman.EXE Stream (anime)), and corrupted with a Dark Chip.
Friends were kidnapped in that same game by an organisation trying to corrupt the world by introducing a personification of evil into a server that will link the souls of all of humanity. In the sixth game, Iris (a NetNavi he was close to in a way) sacrificed herself with Colonel sacrificed themselves to save Megaman and Lan.
Colonel was also the NetNavi of one of the people Lan considered his friends, and Baryl was an antagonist in the sixth game, which freaked both Lan and Megaman out given Colonel nearly KILLED Lan on a few occasions in the sixth game with the CopyBot he was using.
By the end of the sixth game, all I could think of is... HOW THE FUCK DOES THIS 11 YEAR OLD KID NOT HAVE A MENTAL BREAKDOWN?!
Another Example.
Sora from Kingdom Hearts. World was Destroyed by Darkness. Has to save all the worlds from the Darkness by locking their Keyholes. Finds out that friend has been corrupted by darkness by Maleficent, and on several occasions... nearly KILLED Sora. Heck, Riku was willing to kill Sora to get Kairi.
And yet Sora still forgave him at the end of KH1. He even sacrificed himself by stabbing himself THROUGH THE CHEST with the Artificial Keyblade to release his heart, Kairi's heart and (as revealed by Birth By Sleep) Ventus' heart, eventually creating Roxas in the process (who had no memories because Sora regained his humanity and his heart).
Come Chain of Memories. Sora has to fight his way through a castle to the big bad whilst his memories are being re-written by Kairi's Nobody who is being abused by the bad guys in charge of the castle. And at one point, Vexen tries to tell Sora to get out of the place and what's going on. Well, guess what. Axel pulls a douche move and explodes Vexen... RIGHT. IN. FRONT. OF. SORA.
And Sora's horrified as shit. Sure this guy had been trying to kill him, but he wasn't truly evil. And then he gets incinerated. And then by the end of it, he beats the big boss. Kairi's Nobody, Namine, tells him to restore his memories to his original state, he'd have to sleep for a while, but would use his memories of Castle Oblivion, and by extension her.
Sora says that he'll remember her no matter what, but he doesn't until the end of the game really. So he is asleep for a year. And Sora's still being manipulated. By both the Organization AND DiZ/Ansem the Wise. Then he finds out that the Ansem he thought really wasn't the real Ansem and was just the Heartless of one of the real Ansem's Apprentice. Confusing mind fuck there.
And at one point, he nearly thinks that Goofy dies. Yeah... then the final dungeon... yeah. Has to fight his way though a castle which hovers over a city brimming with Heartless, watch someone sacrifice themselves to ruin the Organization's plan, has to fight the final members of the Big Bad (except for Roxas who you only fight in Final Mix+), save his friends and stuff... and by the end of it... gets trapped in the edge of the Realm of Darkness with his friend until his other friend saves him with a message...
CAN SOMEONE ASK ME WHY THIS 14 YEAR OLD BOY HASN'T CRACKED YET?!
My point is... when you actually research the character and come up with a possible plausible reason for the character to be in diapers instead of pulling a random overused idea out of your ass, the story makes more sense and is more pleasing.
