Karis, who was sitting on the couch again after leaving Alex, turned to see the young half elf peeking around the corner. Karis smiled as she beckoned Alex to come over and sit with her. "Come on over sweety. There's no need to be shy. I won't bite." She teased as she pat the spot on the couch next to her, smiling. Karis absolutely loved children, and felt like she was running her daycare again, with how Alex behaved.

Alex wasn't quite sure. She was a person, right? Karis... She was clearly different. Nonetheless, the young woman had been nice enough to assist the child in the situation, would she really be dangerous? The child found herself approaching Karis and climbing up onto the couch with a minor challenge. The couch was a lot bigger than what Alex was really used to.
"Why are you out here all alone, miss Karis?" Alex inquired, as her head craned skyward to meet the woman's eyes. The shirt was enough to cover the shortalls, or rather the lack of, at this point in time. "What happened to your daycare? Did my mom drop me off?" So many question firing, Alex could hardly remember her mother from earlier in her life. That had been lost so long ago.

Karis smiled as she pressed her index finger against Alex's lips to get her to slow down in her questioning. "Easy sweety. I don't know where your mommy is. I found you rolling down the hill out back in just that shirt you're wearing right now. And my daycare was shut down sweety, from someone abusing the use of lawsuits. And the reason I'm out here alone is because I live here sweetheart. I don't live with my mommy or daddy." SHe said as her head fins raised to a fully fanned out position. "What about you sweety? Can you tell me more about yourself?" She asked kindly.

With the index finger over her mouth, Alex was quickly silenced. She listened intently. So... Her mother hadn't been around. Well, not when she arrived in Karis's yard... She couldn't think of where her mother could have been.
"Umm... I like chocolate and music and concerts," the girl rambled a little, shying away from Karis with the extension of Karis's headfins. "Why d'you got those?"

Karis smiled kindly at Alex as she shied away. "I'm an Aqua Dragon sweetheart. These are actually my ears." She said kindly, wiggling her fins for effect. "By the way, is there anything you don't like sweety?" She asked kindly. She then gently brought Alex back next to her, Alex's shirt hiking up for a brief moment, but enough for Karis to notice the lack of shortalls. "What happened to the shortalls I gave you sweety? Didn't you like them?" She asked.

An aqua dragon? That was a rather ridiculous idea. There wasn't really a sign of anything for ears, aside from those though... "Umm... I can't think of any," the girl answered simply, in regards to dislikes. Something was telling her kids, but that didn't seem to be quite right.
"I didn't," Alex nodded, "They wouldn't work well." The entire idea of shortalls, she hadn't seen any on big kids. Nor would she see them on her.

Karis nodded. "Alright sweety, would you like me to get you a nicer dress?" She asked kindly as she gently stroked Alex's hair. "I'm sure I have some dresses for big girls like you." She said as she stood up and gently picked Alex up in her arms, walking upstairs to one of the bedrooms, which seemed to be for a toddler girl.

It felt funny to be sitting in someone's arms again. It didn't feel right, quite like this. Nonetheless, Alex had no opportunity to really turn down the dress, as they headed up to one of the rooms.
"Can I get this back?" she asked, tugging at her shirt. Sure, it wasn't a dress, but something in her head screamed for her to keep it close. The room was sickeningly cute, and it bothered her even more that she found it appealing. "I want that dolly!" she exclaimed, pointing to the corner, where a variety of stuffed animals sat.

Karis smiled as she handed Alex the doll that she had pointed to and set her on the toddler bed. "Of course you can have it back sweety. Now let's get you in a nice dress, and then get you some dinner." She said as she looked throught the dresser before pulling a slightly, but not very, babyish pink toddler dress with a white sash belt. "Here we go sweety. Would you like me to help you get dressed?" SHe asked.

The doll in her arms, as the little girl was set upon the firm toddler bed. Karis mentioned that she'd have her shirt back, and that was good. Her growling tummy seemed to agree with the idea of dinner even more than before.
"I don't wear dresses often," the little girl admitted sheepishly, subtly agreeing to the young woman's help.
