Cress from the Tales series, Phantasia I believe.
Also, how does this make me a true RPG gamer, the tales series are action rpgs, shouldnt' the test be somthing terrible like "until you've beaten Dragon Quest 7" or unless you've beaten Entrian Odyssey, or played one fo those old stupidly hard and weird early day rpgs like wizardry or ultima, or the ultimate rpg challenge, found somthing about Final Fantasy 2 that didn't suck?

This thread is kind of dumb, and really doesn't prove anything besides that the OP is trying to gloat about skills that are useless. The knowledge of a certain RPG game and/or character hardly proves anything. For all you know, someone who knows this character could be a bad RPG gamer but just happened to play this game. Someone who happened to not have played this game, maybe the best rpg gamer out there, because they have played the majority of rpg games besides this one.
Also it really depends on what you mean "RPG". If you actually mean role-playing game, then it's obvious you are not a real "RPG" gamer unless you actually role-play, such as D&D. At least D&D actually gives you some useful skills such as creativity, writing, and story telling.
If this is some kind of werid test, come up with something more interesting and knowledgable.

not sure I agree about D and D giving useful skills, I mean I suppose it can, but in my expierience players who talk about being creative, and storytelling usually just produce generic fantasy filler, and spend their time fighting with the munchkins. (I've found plenty of exceptions, but my point is it ain't a sure thing)
I also have always disliked the idea that it doesn't count as roleplaying jsut cause its a console rpg. I mean, just cause I didn't create the role doesn't mean I can't get really involved in it. And lots of console games let you add some (admitedly limited) of your own flavor to your character. Yes you don't have the limitless options of tabletop roleplaying, but so.
I'll grant you tabletop games do allow for a purer roleplaying expierience, but if you're going to say thats the only way to truly roleplay, why stop there? Why not join one fo those purist groups who hate D and D and call it nothing but hack and slash fit only for munchkins, that real roleplayers stay away from so they can play...whatever. Or even those super purists who say roleplaying is best done without rules?
I suppose its because I worry less about "creativity and storytelling" and more about having fun, by myself, or online, or with people in my house, and so to me a role I play is when I stop thinking about myself and become focused on the life of whatever imaginary person I'm controlling.
That said, I agree this is a silly test of true console roleplaying. And I will further agree the term rpg is pretty ambiguos and long debates can be had over exactly what it means.

any arguments will STOP HEAR!
and the point is that no matter what your skills ARE the fact is that Tales of helped pave the way for RPGS just as much as FF did and that if you consider your self a RPG gamer you should have at least SOME knowledge about the series.

What your talking about console/internet rpg games/gaming ? Well then you should have said that so there wasn't talk about D&D,anyway what was the problem about stating options? It was a discussion on rpgs so it was technically on topic yet at the same time off topic
Well on topic now it really is somewhat erelevant on the games you are talking about do to the fact D&D was if I recall right one of the first rpgs that helped path the way for those games listed aswell

I actually have no knowlege at all about the series, and yet I still consider myself an RPG gamer. I mean the majority of games I play usually have some type of rpg element to them. Wether it be an mmorpg, a table top game, or just a plain console game. While I do believe knowledge is important, it certainly isn't what makes someone a true gamer. The only FF games I have played is FFX, FFX2, and FFXII. My favorite rpg game would probably be considered bad by most and that's Hyperdimension Neptunia. Heck even my display picture is of Neptune lol.
Besides that, I play tons of mmorpgs. Planeshift, Mabinogi, FlyFF, EVE Online, Eden Eternal, Scions of Fate, Dream of Mirror Online, Asda Story, Guild Wars, Maplestory, Fiesta Online, Free Realms, Lineage 2, Ragnarok Online, Rappelz, ROSE Online, Runescape, Second Life, Seal Online, Shaiya, Silkroad Online, Trickster Online, Audition, Wizard101, and zOMG!. Dragon Nest is next on my list. I play these games, because I like the interaction with real people, and not just NPCs.
Edit: BTW .. I just noticed I listed Audition .... It's not really an mmorpg, more like an mmo dance game. XD

Well I can tell he's a knight and considering his lack of leg armor and the fact that he where's a bandana his speed stat is probably resonable high yet still under his physical attack and if he knows magic it's probably healing or light elemental
I beleive that if my guess is fairly close to the mark i'm a true Rpg gamer even if I don't know what game he's from

no magic, but he does use chi attacks in his sword techs
yes tales series did help develop rpgs, in paticular eastern rpgs (western rpgs developed seperately, and frankly I think that even if the tales series vanished from history the western rpgs like Baldurs Gate or Dragon Age wouldn't be that different)
But I fail to see why knowing history is needed to be a true rpg gamer. I mean if you're going to go that route, why not dragon quest? Arguably it was the series that started the japenese rpg market (and for a while was more popular in japan than final fantasy, and the tales series combined)
or why not the final fantasy series, which was responsible for many modern rpg trends, as well as much of the desire for eastern rpgs in the west? (and no, the tales series was not just as important)
and frankly, I don't think that's much of a supposition, I think you can be a real rpg gamer without knowing the history of gaming. Just like you don't need to knwo the history of music in order to appreciate rock and roll.
