Princess Mia Luna Tearmoon was executed at the age of 18 for crimes against her own people. At least she had been in her first lift. But after she was given a second chance, she had done all she could to ensure that her people did not revolt, inadvertently earning their love and loyalty in the process. Although she had avoided the guillotine, she still minded her manners and did all she could to ensure that fate remained out of her future.

Among those most loyal to the princess was her lady-in-waiting Anne Littstein. She had done just about everything that she could to serve her, and Mia was certainly quite touched by it all.

She wondered if she ever might even begin to repay her faithful maid. She contemplated that as she sat at her desk, reviewing some paperwork.

Everything was certainly keeping her occupied at this moment, especially to ensure that the Tearmoon Empire remained in good stead. She had no idea that this day would give her the opportunity to repay her debt to Anne.

As the princess worked, the door to her office opened and Anne entered with a tray. "Your afternoon tea, Your Highness," she called out as she approached.

"Oh, thank you very much, Anne," she stated.

The maid solemnly made her way across the office and set the tray down on an empty space next to Mia. "Is there anything more you require?"

"No, I think that I'm quite good right now."

Anne nodded and curtsied to her mistress, before turning to leave. But before she had taken three steps, she paused.

"Is there something wrong, Anne?"
