Across the galaxy, the planet of Krypton was on the verge of imploding, and despite the persistent efforts of renowned scientist Jor-El, no efforts had been made to evacuate it. Nevertheless, Jor had found a way to save the two most precious people in his life.

His wife Lara, and their son Kal-El would be sent off in a rocket to escape the dying planet.

Lara was heartbroken that her husband would be unable to come with them, but she would ensure that his sacrifice would not be in vain. Spending one last tender moment with him, she said, "I wish it could have been all three of us."

"I certainly wish nothing more myself," he replied.

Lara still prayed that somehow, in the time after she and their son left, her husband might find a way to escape. Maybe he might find her sister's family and seek shelter with them. But for now, she had to focus on getting Kal to safety.

She immediately brought her son, as well as necessary supplies, to the rocket. Mainly a lot of diapers.

"Hopefully he won't smell up the pod too much," Jor quipped, trying to give some much-needed comic relief despite the impending doom. "Now get going. I'll rest easy knowing you two are safe."

Lara nodded and soon she and Kal-El were securely inside, blasting off from the doomed planet.

It was a full day before Krypton finally imploded, and even from so far away, Lara could see the explosion. Wiping a tear from her eye, she said, "Even if we never meet again, my darling, I shall never forget you."

She then turned her attention to her son, as she held him in her arms.
