Daring Do and the Quest for the Responsible Rainbow (Private)
"Oh my gosh, what is taking her so long?" Rainbow Dash thought allowed, knocking again on the door of her idol and hero, Daring Do. Like always, it felt like, her book release had been postponed. After last time, Rainbow had of course taken this as a sign that Daring Do was in some kind of trouble and needed help.
And now, Daring Do wasn't answering her door. This wasn't good. Rainbow Dash's imagination was running wild with visions of her hero in peril at the hands of some evil monster or criminal, needing saving or help. Rainbow Dash knocked again.

'Daring Do was in the midst of... Daring Do had just finished...' More knocking. Slapping her forehead with one hoof, Daring Do sighed. How in the hay was this book going to get done if the quiet cabin wasn't quiet at all? Who was even there... "Oh..." How could she forget those ponies, Rainbow... Dash(?) and her friends. Sometimes it's hard keeping track of all the character names.
Pushing back from her desk, Daring Do slowly trotted over to the door, not bothering to tidy up the odd balled up scraps or anything of the sort. Time to inform an unfortunate pony that the book wasn't done yet... again. Unlocking the door and opening it a crack, she confirmed that it was indeed the colorful pony that she used in one of her previous books. "Please, keep it down! The book isn't finished yet, you'll just need to be patient. Didn't you learn that last time?" She rose an eyebrow at Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow Dash grinned, happy to see that Daring Do was okay. Still, her tone seemed a little surprising considering that Rainbow had saved her life last time this scenario had played out.
"Last time?" She asked, confused. "Uh, last time, you got attacked by goons and all of Equestria was almost plunged into eternal heat! I wanted to make sure you were okay!" Daring Do was being surprisingly rude, for some reason that Rainbow couldn't quite comprehend.

Daring Do bit her lip at that. Rainbow Dash did have a point, despite her pride saying she'd have been able to handle it. "I appreciate the thought, but as you can see I am quite fine." Daring Do hesitated but opened her door a little more so the other pony could confirm that there were no broken bones or wings or anything sort of injury. The door began shutting slowly once more though, "Now if you'll excuse me I need to concentrate to get this next draft done. I can send you the copy when I mail it off for approval, for your trouble in coming out." Daring offered, trying to be considerate despite her mounting frustrations.

"Hey, come on!" Rainbow Dash protested, putting her hoof in the doorway. "Won't you at least show me what you're working on now? I bet it's super exciting!" She didn't want her flight up north to have been all for nothing, she at least wanted to know what was going to happen in the next book, even if she wouldn't get to go on any more adventures with Daring. "I just got here, after all. You wouldn't want that whole flight up here to be wasted, would you?"

Daring Do sighed, unable to shut the door now. It's not like she hadn't shown Rainbow Dash a draft before... but this wasn't even completed enough to be a draft really! She hadn't even gotten more than a few chapters in, and even those could use some more work... She contemplated asking Rainbow Dash to leave once more. After looking to the visitor's face, which Daring Do almost immediately regretted, she had to relent. No way was she going to be rid of the multicolored pegasus.
"Alright, alright..." Daring Do opened her door a little more to let Rainbow Dash inside, "you can read what I have done. You need to be quiet though, I have to concentrate on writing the rest of the book." She ushered the pony inside before heading back to her desk. The papers were stacked in order, though there were a few correction marks and some creases indicating they'd been read several times. "It's not much," She warned her guest, pulling out her desk chair to resume her work, "but I've got more planned..." 'Just need to get it into paper form...' she didn't add.

"Awesome! Thank you thank you thank you!" Rainbow Dash declared, leaping at the stack of papers happily and sitting down to read without another word. It took her all of half an hour to read, and when she was done she knew what the issue was.
"There aren't enough awesome action scenes!" She said, more to herself than to Daring. "I bet she's having trouble writing because she's not gone on enough adventures!"
And that's when Rainbow Dash had an idea, one that would help Daring Do with her writing and let them do more awesome stuff together.
"Thank you, Daring!" she called, trotting to the door and whistling innocently. "I'm going to go for a walk, okay? See you soon!"
...
Finding what she was looking for didn't take long. Daring needed more exciting adventures and action scenes, so Rainbow would bring her some! After a short walk through the jungle, she had found an appropriately menacing jungle cat. It was a little larger than a full grown pony, had grey fur, and looked sufficiently dangerous without being too much of a threat. Sneaking up behind it, Rainbow yanked on its tail, planning on getting it to chase her back to Daring's cabin.
The cat whipped around, hissing at Rainbow Dash and swiping at her. Rainbow ducked back, laughing a bit. It was possible this was going to be too easy, this thing didn't feel like much of a threat.
Then, she heard the roar behind her, and whipped around to see that cat's mother, a beast easily four times larger.
"DARING!" She screamed, speeding off towards the author's cabin for dear life.

Daring made it a few more pages into writing before Dash announced the problem. She ignored the comment for the moment to finish the thought and... there it went. Rubbing her forehead with a hoof, she turned around to vent at Rainbow Dash about being quiet and... she was gone? 'Oh... she said something about leaving... I guess...' She thought to herself before heading to her kitchen for a small glass of water and some movement to get her blood going again.
Sometimes, that's all it takes. Just the little break to reinvigorate and motivate for the next bout of work! More adventures... more adventures... "I'll show her more adventure!" She chuckled, moving onto a new page when her ear twitched. Her eyes widened as she realized what made the noise before hopping up to check her windows. Nothing nearby... so she seemed oka-... was that...
Daring Do grumbled something she'd never write in her book (foal friendly after all!) and quicky bolted out the door. What the hay was that pony up to? Her wings folded out as she took flight and headed towards the sound of the shriek, "I'm coming Rainbow Dash!" She yelled internally, though the thought seemed to have escaped her mind as she raced towards the fan in need.

Rainbow Dash was zipping through the trees as quickly as she could, but the much larger jungle cat was keeping pace, razor-sharp claws ripping through the trees as Rainbow tried to dodge around them. She was going to fast to keep dodging through branches, though, and it wasn't long before she ran into one and tumbled to the ground, dazing her.
Getting up and spinning around, she saw the cat raising on its hind legs, just in time to hear it roar. She didn't have time to take off and fly away, it was about to strike, so she just stood there, frozen in panic, barely noticing the pee running down her legs as she wet herself in terror. At least nopony was around to see how stupid her death was going to be. As a last ditch effort, she just screamed at the top of her lungs.

The sounds of tree branches collapsing onto the jungle floor made it fairly easy for Daring Do to hone in on where the trouble was. Thankfully, she had brought something she found quite helpful in dealing with these jungle cats... and there was always the tried and true method. In the distance, about 300 hooves ahead (don't ask about conversion rates xD), Daring could see the outline of the giant beast. "Hold on, Rainbow Dash!" She yelled, reaching into her saddlebag to pull out a large length of coiled rope.
Daring Do put a sizable length around a tree once she was closer to the beast and looped the other end before dashing into the fray. In the small clearing, she saw the cat raise up and took the time to loop it around the neck before knocking it off and onto it's back. Turning back to Rainbow Dash, she blinked a few times at the mare's helpless state. These ones weren't all that much of a problem... and half the time you could get them to play if you were careful. "Hey, Rainbow, come on!" She flew over to the crestfallen pony and tried helping her up and ignoring the puddle that had formed. They needed to get out of there quickly if this was to work, bobbing between trees would only work so much, they had to get out of it's sight as well! "Can you fly?" She demanded before picking Rainbow Dash up and putting her on top of the bag. No matter, Daring wasn't staying to find out, Dash could get off if she could fly.
