It had been a dark and dangerous night. The winds were howling and the sea thrashed away colliding with rocks and swirling. A small girl laid upon a small wooden raft unmoving and drenched.

A local fishingboat had pulled her to safety and she had been taken to hospital. It took a full week for her to awake to various doctors and nurses. She had no recollection of her memories or who she was at all except for her first name, Sora, and a necklace with a crown that she wore around her neck. With no records and despite investigations to try and find some information there was nothing at all.

Sora was considered an orphan and found herself living with other children who had also ended up being lost but at least they had all their memories and knew who they were.

In the years that passed Sora didn't recover any of her memories and nightmares haunted her at night instead. She didn't have any friends in the orphanage and in the town. Each time she tried to make a connection she would become scared, worried and anxious that she would only end up hurting anyone. Unknown to Sora the fear in her heart was letting and allowing darkness to come in despite the purity and brightness that it possesed and hid away.

Her tenth birthday had been and gone. It was only yesterday and she didn't really celebrate. She didn't feel as if there was any point. She didn't have any friends or family at all nor did she feel as if it was special to do so.

Sora walked through the forest. It was getting dark but she didn't really have anything to return to and she didn't mind the night that much. She preferred being awake rather then going to sleep. The nightmares scared and hurt her. Stopping she could hear voices nearby.


"Oh no! I am not teaming up with him!" said Pete, "No way and no how!" he continued glaring at Vanitas, "If you need me for anything just shout but don't you ever team me up with this punk." he added running off like a coward.

Vanitas glared and sneered at Pete, "What a loser," he laughed slightly before turning to the witch, "so if I find anything at all I'll let you know and if you find anything you'll let me know," stated Vanitas with a smirk, "and then I can have Ven all to myself and you can have whatever you want be it the x-blade, the worlds, whatever I don't care as long as you leave that loser to me." he stated before turning his head a little to see Sora nearby hiding behind a tree.

Vanitas nearly turned his head away but stopped and stared questionably his eyes squinting a little, "That girl seems familiar somehow."

Sora runs away quickly becoming even more scared.

"Hmph stupid brat! Anyway I'll see you later."

Vanitas left through a portal of darkness.


Sora tired and breathing heavily sat down on the grass leaning against a tree. What was that? Who were those people? She never seen them before! That boy with the black-hair....

Sora held her head. Had she seen him before? But how? Where? She knew him somehow. She could feel it? Then there was Pete....

Her head was becoming painful and so was her heart.

Then there was that woman....

Maleficent sighed exasperated by Pete’s cowardice and overall uselessness. She turned dramatically to the boy that shared the face she oh so despised. It was of little importance comparing the power and ability of the two it was obvious vanitas was the more useful tool. “Very well and vanitas I swear we’ll get your revenge on the old man I have a score to settle with xehanort as well”

She gave off an evil chuckle before turning in the direction the girl had fled. She began walking at a rather slow place” working with fools had benitfits for sure. But it meant she couldn’t ask them if they had sensed. That girl... such a pure light last time she had sensed something like that... it had been with the accursed princesses of light.

She knew the organization was after pure lights like this one and gaining an asset while damaging her opposition was simply too tempting. She would love to see the look on xehanorts face when she emerged victorious... such wonderful thoughts would wait for now.

She found the girl leaning against a tree. Panting and clearly a bit exhausted. Maleficent crouched down to be on her level “ hello little one” she said fondly she would crank the charm up as much as needed. She looked into the girl’s eyes and there it was again blinding pure light.

Where are your parents? Are you lost?” Turning the girl s parents into heartless could prove tricky but if they were even half as powerful as this girl it would be worth trying.


She cast a weak cure on the girl to recover her stamina and smooth any pain over.

Sora could hear the grass move and could tell someone was coming after her but she couldn't do anything at all. She felt so tired and her legs felt sore. It was hard for her to do much of anything.

She wasn't lazy by anymeans but with her dreadful lack of sleep she tended to lose a lot of energy fast but that didn't mean she was weak at all.

Sora looked up at Maleficent surprised by how charming she seemed and she sounded so kind as well. Sora offered Maleficent a small shy smile, "Hi," she replied quietly staring at Maleficent, "I-I don't have any parents," admitted Sora softly, "I can't remember them," she paused, "or anything."

She looked away from Maleficent for a moment, "I like playing in the forest a lot and I know my way back to the orphanage." reassured Sora with a small smile.

"Who are you?" she asked, "I've just never seen you around here before or those two guys?" pausing she tilted her head a little, "My name is Sora." she added introducing herself to Maleficent not realising that Maleficent was a bad person at all.

Maleficent grinned after hearing the girl was an orphan no one would miss her. How wonderful..... she barely contained a flinch when the girl mentioned her name. “Sora... what a pretty name” she forced out maintaining her charming exterior as best she could.

Internally she was screaming.... was this a trap a trick was the boy disguised. She looked at the girl.... she knew sora was too emotional and dim witted to lie or act this well. And the girl seemed genuinely taken in by her nice act.... what a peculiar coincidence..... she frowned and let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. The girl was safe.

“An orphanage that’s no place for a pretty girl like yourself.... how would you like to come stay with me?” She offered.... if the girl refused she could steal her away or actually go to the orphanage and adopt her but such things could be troublesome.....

Maleficent racked her brain trying to remember things that children enjoyed as she raised an open palm and summoned a simple fireworks affect In her hands. The colors and sparkles should be rather impressive to the little girl. “I know magic dear and you have great potential there are things I can teach you I assure you no one else could possibly know.” She said grinning like the cat that had caught the canary.

She’d be able to mold this girl like she had failed to do with Riku years ago. The girl was young naive and bursting with light. Things couldn’t go any better. She smiled opening a dark cooridor. “Come little one it’s safe “ she said offering her hand.

Sora could tell that something was a little off with Maleficent but she just pushed that to one side because the woman seemed nice enough? And she seemed charming and rather kind. She also thought her name was pretty! She couldn't remember the last time an adult had talked to her like this or when anyone ever talked to her she was just the weird girl from the sea with no memory.

Sora blushed a little and smiled even more brightly. The brightness in her heart growing at the thought of going somewhere and staying with someone, "R-really! But you could have anyone else!" stammered Sora only to watch Maleficent summon some fireworks in her hands, "Woah! You can do magic that's so cool!"

Pain flickered breifly through Sora's heart and eyes. A memory that wasn't clear tried to surface and her heart twisted itself in a knot.

There was fireworks, a duck....

Shouting....

Blaming her for something....

Sora shook her head unable to recall the memory that was trying to force itself through to her but it didn't work. It never worked. Sora looked at Maleficent again and smiled, "I've never seen something so pretty before," she said only to look at Maleficent in pure shock, "Really! You're going to teach me! I can do magic?" asked Sora excitedly jumping up and giggling.

Sora looked at the dark corridor feeling a little nervous before looking at Maleficent and taking her hand with a smile. This was going to be a start of a new journey and she knew in her heart that this would lead her to the place that she wanted to be.

Despite not knowing anything about what's to come at all deep within her heart she called out to someone...

"Kairi." called her heart the moment she stepped into the portal yearning to be back with Kairi. Would Kairi hear her heart call out or has it been so long that there connection had died, "Can you hear me? It's me," pausing, "Sora." called her heart again trying to reach Kairi's heart before fading away.

Luckily that was mostly internal. If maleficent has heard the girl rambling about kairi she would’ve likely reacted poorly. They exited and a large looming castle stood before them. “This is mine and now your home” she said confidently. She led the girl along the cobblestone bridge. She had replaced the pig manservants and guards with various heartless. Do to there utility and strength. She had commanded them to obey the girl and she was sure that would suffice for keeping them away from her new charge.

She led the girl into the large gates and past the throne room. “If you need anything you can ask ask any of the creatures in the castle they will obey you” she instructed the girl. “Now I’m sure your tired but I think a bath and some new clothes are in order before you rest.” She wasn’t as talented as the good fairies but she could make a suitable outfit.

She’d receive a dark suit if she ever became ready for missions. She finished with a frown “one last question dear can you read?” She wanted to know where to begin the girl’s education.

She had one of the standard shadows come to lead the girl. She had been told they can be quite cute so maybe making the girl like the heartless would be easier with them and some of the other less temperamental ones. “This one will take you to the baths just shout if you need anything” she instructed

Maleficent turned to a mannequin and began working on the girl’s uniform.

The tiny heartless nuzzled the girl’s warm hand before holding it and walking towards the baths.

Many worlds away a red headed girl felt a pain in her chest and a name “Sora” he’s out there she thought with a smile

Sora stared at the large looming castle in pure awe at it having never seen something like that before except in books and pictures. It looked so magical! She couldn't believe her eyes. Her new home? Really? She looked up at Maleficent and bit her bottom lip nervously wondering is that meant Maleficent was now her Mom? Or not? Sora found herself staring at the heartless they looked pretty cute some of them and they didn't seem dangerous to her at all.

Sora even giggled softly at a few of them as she was led through the large gates and passed the throne room, "Are you a Queen?" asked Sora wide eyed and curious only to look over at the creatures again, "Really? she asked before smiling, "Thank you so much!" said Sora greatfully to Maleficent, "I-is there anything you'd like me to call you or is Maleficent okay?" asked Sora softly.

Looking at Maleficent she shook her head, "I can't read much and I find a lot of it really confusing," said Sora, "we didn't have a teacher at the orphanage and school was hard." sighed Sora softly.

Seeing the shadow Sora smiled a little and followed the shadow curiously surprised when it nuzzled her hand, "Do you have a name?" asked Sora curiously to the tiny heartless. Something felt wrong about the creature and she could sense some kind of pain and longing from it but why? What did it want?

Once in the baths Sora undressed herself and got in the warm water. It felt nice and soothing. Her long brownish blondish hair was now clean and much more lighter. She looked a lot better and she felt better too.

Maleficent frowned as she gazed at the little girl... what should she have the child call her... control was very important. Control through fear and love. She grinned yes this could work “you may call me mother” she told the girl before leaving “I’m a queen of sorts” she told the girl


“Hmm seems your teaching will be mostly verbal” she said waving the girl off “lessons start in the morning.” She told the little girl.

The heartless looked up at the girl. Tilting its head gazing at her with its glowing yellow eyes. The name question jarred the little creature... did it have a name? It used to but it couldn’t remember. Pain was all it felt and hunger. But this girl made it feel warm the kind of warm it chased trying to devour hearts. It shook its head and nuzzled her leg.

The heartless watched her bath in a docile way. Like it wasn’t sure what it was saying. It felt a call and went to get the clothes from mealificent. They were a pair of silk pjs they were a dark purple. It brought the clothes back to the baths. The clothes were set down for the girl and the heartless waited for her holding a warm towel.

Mother....

She could call Maleficent that word....

She never had a Mother before and the idea of having one at last filled her with a great sense of joy! She couldn't remember ever feeling this happy before!

"Thank you Mother!" said Sora, "I look forward to my lessons with you!" she added with a grin and a sparkle of dedication in her eyes towards Maleficent knowing that she would never leave the witch's side at all.

Sora could feel the pain that this heartless had. It felt similar somehow? Memories tried to break through again but just like before it did not work. Sora smiled at the creature's affection and rubbed the top of it's head, "We can be friends if you like?" offered Sora, "I've never had a friend before." she added softly. It was true yet something felt wrong? Did she have friends before she was found in the ocean on a raft? Did she have a family? She didn't know, "I can't remember who I am or was at all," said Sora to the heartless, "I don't know who I really am but I have this." added Sora showing her necklace to the creature with a smile while in the bath.

She watched as the heartless and felt a little sad before smiling upon seeing it return! Getting out of the bath she grinned at the heartless, "Thank you!" she said drying herself off with the warm towel and then putting on the silk dark purple pjs. It was the best thing she ever wore in her entire life and she couldn't believe how lucky she was. Her heart continued to burn with joy.

The heartless tilted it’s head before nodding and taking the girl’s hand. It led her to a large bedroom with a huge led and plush carpets.

When the heartless left two bruisers sat on either side of the door guarding it. Malifecent hadn’t told them to do so they had simply felt compelled to do so.

The next morning one of the neoshadows brought a tray with food for the girl along with a new outfit. It was made of tougher cloth and was black it had a formal looking top and a nice skirt at the bottom with an pair of nice socks and black flats.

Malifecent knocked on the door “eat your breakfast then meat me in the throne room so we can begin your lessons. “ she told the girl walking away from the door. The new shadow stared at the girl while she ate.

In another world a red headed girl was arguing with yen aid. “I know what I felt he’s out there we need to find him” she shouted as the old wizard stroked his beard
